Description

The Campagnolo Neutron wheelset uses the same welded and machined aluminum rim as the Neutron Ultra, but it laces it up to a less expensive hub. As opposed to a carbon fiber shell, the Neutron wheelset uses an all aluminum shell and an oversized aluminum axle. Tying the hub to the rim are butted and bladed stainless steel spokes, radially laced up front and on the non-drive side in back, and crossed on the rear drive side. Using a crossed pattern on the drive side results in more efficient power transfer, while using radial lacing elsewhere reduces weight. The Neutron may weigh more than the Neutron Ultra, but it rolls every bit as smoothly due to Campagnolo spec’ing the same grade 10 bearings in both wheels. Grade 10 means the bearings are round to within 10 millionths of an inch, meaning the Campagnolo Neutron wheelset is one smooth operator.
