Ridley Asteria Carbon Road Bike Frame

The Ridley Asteria frameset takes the Sharp Edge Design found on the Damocles and applies it to a women’s-specific frame. Designed around the proportions and lighter weight of most female riders, the Asteria offers performance blended with comfort, a rare mix in the world of women’s frame.

Ridley builds the Asteria frameset using a combination of 30-ton and 24-ton high modulus carbon fiber, which gives the frame stiffness and strength without adding weight. By using a custom blend of the two carbons, Ridley is able to tune the ride of the Asteria to better suit the needs of female cyclists. The Asteria features the stiff bottom bracket of the Damocles, yet combines it with a non-tapered head tube and a slightly more forgiving rear triangle, hitting the perfect balance of hauling tail and enjoying the ride.

The Sharp Edge Design of the Ridley Asteria frameset not only lends stiffness where it’s needed, it also adds durability to the bike. Far more resistant to crushing than conventional, round tubes, the angular tubeset of the Asteria makes it a great choice for rougher duty where the bike may take some bumps and dings, including racing or frequent travel.

A note on Ridley sizing: Ridley uses a sloping top tube on their bikes, so in order to select the proper size, it’s important to pay attention to the effective top tube as opposed to the seat tube length. You really should focus on effective top tube on any frame, but it’s especially critical on sloping top tube frames.
